Step 9

Don't worry about the color or exact position as we are going to change it now. Press CRTL+T. This is transform mode. You'll see that the rectangle is now surrounded by a line box with four little squares. We can move each square by clicking and dragging wherever we want. Re-position the rectangle now. When you're happy with the positon press enter. Now for the color. If you look at the bottom of the layers panel, you will find on the far left the 'Add layer style' icon. Click it and a new pop up screen will appear:

 

Step 10

This screen gives us hundreds of different ways to modify our rectangle. First let's add a bevel:

Now let's add a drop shadow:

Don't forget that you can always go back later to modify something. I don't like the purple color I have so let's go with a gradient fill:

 

Step 13

Now before we click OK, click the 'New Style' button. When the window pops up type in a meaningful name and click ok. now we have the layer style saved and can use it for other things without having to go through the same procedure.

 

Step 14

To prove it make a new layer then another rounded rectangle like this:

 

 

Step 15

In the layers panel drag the new layer under the header layer:

 

Step 16

Click windows ->Styles and click on our saved style:
